BIRTHDAY GIRL is the first professional short film from writer-director Erin Laing. In 2006 BIRTHDAY GIRL won the grand prize for COURS ÉCRIRE TON COURT!, a major Quebec short film screenwriting competition. Before working on this film, Erin was an assistant to directors Darren Aronofsky (The Fountain) and Stephen Gyllenhaal (Time Bomb). She studied film production at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema in Montreal. Erin is currently living in Berlin, developing her first feature film.
