Dana Schoel
In 2008, Dana Schoel wrote and co-directed the documentary Elders of the Far North which takes place in a northern Inuit community. Since 2003, Mr. Schoel has edited and occasionally co-directed a weekly television program about life among the Inuit in the North, Nunavimmiut which is broadcast across Canada on APTN and has provided Mr. Schoel with the opportunity to travel and work in Nunavik, the extreme North of Quebec.
In 2006, he directed and wrote Shadow Riders, a short film in the style of a “supernatural western à la David Lynch.”
He has penned and directed five short films and was the recipient of the Astraltech Technical Achievement Award at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. Mr. Schoel has since been awarded a number of script-writing grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, Sodec and Telefilm Canada.
Currently in development is his feature film The book of Sohrab, which he is co-writing with Oscar nominee Iranian filmmaker Shoresh Kalantari.
He is currently planning a dogsled trip in the arctic as research for a new project.
